Control your Ball Flight: Low and Slow on a Windy Golf Course
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010You’re getting in a couple of extra holes before that storm comes through. Of course the wind is blowing hard enough to whip things up. How to be successful? Control your ball flight. To get the desired result, make sure you make controlled swings. Do not overswing, concentrate on balance by being nice and low.
Also, another tip: reconsider your club selection. For every 10 mph of wind, you’ll want to go up a club or two. So if you’d normally hit a 7-iron, you give your 6-iron a try instead.
Of course you’ll want to practice this. Best way? Get in the P3ProSwing golf simulator and crank up the wind. You can set it to gust from any direction, and at any speed. Set yourself up in hurricane condition to see how you handle it.
Go ahead – I did it yesterday, and it’s not easy.
